For those who dont know I have been working at the same client for 2 years now in January. The client is the largest PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Management) company in the US. This is very rare. Usually we last about 6 months at a client. Also this client has been ideal for me due to the proximty to my house. I have been on clients as far as 2 hours away. But now my client is up against a problem. They really want me to stay but they have a rule that a consultant can not work here longer than two years. The rule stems from a lawsuit against Microsoft because some consultants felt that they were just employees without benefits. Anywaythere is no way around this rule. But in an unexpected development the Client has offered me a job. The pay would be great and the commute would be awesome but I am conflicted. The truth is normally I would not be allowed to do this. My company has a contract that says that clients can not cherry pick employees. But I spoke with my boss's boss and he told me to go for it. I have a great relationship with him and he felt that this would be best for me and my family. He also told me that anytime I want I could come back. The problem is, I LOVE the company I work for. I have built some great relationships there and I love the work I do. In the end if the client makes a formal offer I am going to aacept it, it just makes too much sense, but I am still confilicted. On the plus side I have been building some great relationships at my client and I am excited to be able to continue those. As my mother put it, "We should all be blessed with such problems".
